The Théâtre de la Mezzanine is a theater that was built in 1979 in Lieusaint ( Seine-et-Marne department ) in the Parisian banlieue .

It was founded by the director Denis Chabroullet , who developed his own theater language, full of anger, hallucinations and dreams, often very erotic, often without words. Fears and the struggle for survival of the common people are discussed musically and visually. Fear-ridden topics such as the terrorist attacks on the Paris Metro are opulent and colorfully presented in a stark light. Roselyne Bonnet des Tuves is mostly responsible for the music, while Denis Chabroullet directed, script and set design. The theater is a regular guest at international theater festivals.

Productions

  • Shooting Star , German premiere on May 9, 2003 at the Erlangen Puppet Theater Festival . The play was announced as a "fabulous" game machine, which carries the viewer away to the strangest mythologies of our memory. The six-day race as a mirror of world history. A wild fresco, a visual pamphlet to bury the 20th century. "
  • Les champs d'amour (2005). In an empty field bordered by 4 Greek columns, the piece by Chabroullet shows the overturning of youthful dreams of love and eroticism into hate and violence.
  • Denis Chabroullet: Bouche à Bouche - Nous sommes tous des Papous. Création sans paroles . ("Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation - We are all Papuans . Creation without words"), 2006, inspired by the reactions to September 11, 2001 . German premiere on October 2, 2009 at the Ruhrtriennale in the Friedlicher Nachbar colliery as part of the FIDENA festival. In 2006, the critic Ludovic Tomas rated the performance consistently positive: The apocalypse of modernity, represented by the flotsam of a dehumanized economy such as tattered mannequins, rusted tools and computers that the sewer system spits out, are symbols of consumerism, productivism, the pursuit of profit and profitability coined time. The four actors conveyed an oppressive atmosphere of violence, hysteria, flight and pain. The band (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) with the music of Rosleyne Bonnet des Tuves are fully integrated into the scene and comment on and accompany the gestures of the actors.
