The International Culture Days of the City of Dortmund are a series of events in which a partner country has presented artists, exhibitions, theater and events since 1957. An extensive program is presented in each case, from street theater to popular culture to readings and discussion events. A special focus was on events in public spaces. Artists from the region around Dortmund and the host country were presented.

The foundation of the International Culture Days goes back to Luntowski's "History of the City of Dortmund" by the then Dortmund theater director Paul Walter Jacob . Another source was the Rheinisch-Westfälische Auslandsgesellschaft , which had been responsible for foreign cultural work in predecessor organizations since 1948.
