The Ark (English for The Ark ) is a 1790 m high, rocky mountain in the East Antarctic Coatsland . It rises in the central Read Mountains of the Shackleton Range .
A first mapping was made in 1957 by participants in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee descriptively named it in 1962. Seen from the west, the shape of the mountain resembles an ark.
