The Base ( German : Die Basis, der Stützpunkt) is an American feature film from 1999 . The film was produced directly for the video and DVD market and was released on June 1, 1999.
action
John Murphy, Major in the US Army , is assigned to track down the drug boss Santos in Mexico with a task force on a secret mission and to bring him to the USA. But Santos was warned. The mission fails and Murphy is the only one to survive. He suspects that there is a conspiracy within the army and infiltrates an army camp, where he hopes to find out about the people behind the conspiracy. But those backers notice that he's on their way and won't stop at anything.

In 2000 the sequel The Base II - The Death Tribunal was produced. Mark L. Lester re-directed, with Antonio Sabato Jr. in the lead role . The film was produced for television.

"The video production by cheap filmmaker Mark L. Lester is as predictable as it is illogical, but honestly does not even try to put more than just the martial arts of the wooden Mark Dacascos into perspective [...]."
