action
A young, ambitious reporter for The Daily Reporter is reading the front text of his newspaper, in which Dwight D. Eisenhower is entering the presidential election campaign. He himself is never allowed to report anything really spectacular, so he asks his boss to give him a chance. Rocky Marciano is currently preparing for a boxing match and he wants to make a story about it. His boss refuses to give him the job and the young reporter threatens that the way in which the boss received his post is also worth a story. Before the two men can attack each other, an experienced reporter appears with the Marciano story. The young reporter leaves the room in frustration with the words “You guys are all the same!”.
production
The Big Story , set in 1952 and filmed in black and white, pays homage to Kirk Douglas . All three characters in the film are caricaturally modeled on Douglas of different ages.
