The Black Seeds are a New Zealand band that make reggae , dub and funk music.
history
It was founded in 1998 in Wellington ( New Zealand ) and usually has eight members. The instruments represented are: vocals, guitar , saxophone , trumpet , bass , drums , bongos , keyboard , wood block and various others.
In June 2011 Barrett Hocking replaced the previous trumpeter Andrew Christiansen.
Former band member Bret McKenzie is a member of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords alongside Jemaine Clement and composed five songs for the movie The Muppets (awarded the Oscar in 2012 for best theme song).
