Bret McKenzie
Bret McKenzie ONZM (born June 29, 1976 in Wellington , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand actor , musician , comedian and Oscar winner. He is the son of New Zealand actor Peter McKenzie . He received worldwide attention as a member of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords alongside Jemaine Clement and as a composer for the movie The Muppets .
Life
McKenzie was a musician with the bands The Black Seeds and Karnivool . He released the album Prototype under the pseudonym Video Kid . He is also a member of the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.
He had the greatest success as a member of Flight of the Conchords . The duo has toured internationally and has already released four CDs:
- Folk the World Tour (2002)
- The Distant Future (2007), Grammy Award winner
- Flight of the Conchords (2008), Grammy nominated
- I Told You I Was Freaky (2009)
The Conchords have also produced a six-part comedy show for the BBC radio program and have appeared on numerous talk shows such as Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with David Letterman .
Together with HBO , the Conchords produced 22 episodes in 2 seasons of the television series Flight of the Conchords .
Bret McKenzie can be seen as an extra in the first and third part of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy by Peter Jackson as an Elf . His father is the actor Peter McKenzie , who plays King Elendil in the same film adaptation .
In the 22nd season of The Simpsons , McKenzie spoke to a school psychologist.
Bret McKenzie composed a total of five songs for the movie The Muppets . McKenzie's Man or Muppet won an Oscar for best theme song in 2012. He also composed the music for the sequel Muppets Most Wanted , together with Christophe Beck .
In The Hobbit (2012/2013) he took on the role of the elf Lindir.
