The Church Within Records is a German record label founded by Oliver Richling in 2006 , which mainly signs doom metal bands . The label is based in Lohne in Lower Saxony . The name is borrowed from an album title of the doom metal band The Obsessed .
history
Richling, who has been a fanzine writer and photographer in the Doom Metal scene since the 1990s, ran a mail order business for Doom and Metal recordings before the label was founded . During this time he was contacted as a dealer by music groups as a potential label operator, whereupon he founded The Church Within Records in 2006. The first release was the 7 "single Pluperfect by Against Nature , a side project of the band Revelation .
With releases by groups such as Orchid , Lord Vicar , Beelzefuzz , Saint Vitus , Revelation, Unorthodox and Mannhai , the label gained a reputation in the following years as a company whose name would be “synonymous with quality” in the genre.
