The Cut is a watercourse in Berkshire , England . It arises as an outflow from a lake north of North Ascot and initially flows in a westerly direction. To the north of Bracknell , east of Binfield , it turns north. After it has passed under the M4 motorway south of Maidenhead , it changes its course in an easterly direction, in which it flows up to its confluence with the Thames south of Monkey Island at Bray .
