The Dark Side of the Chant (English for: " The dark side of the chants ") is the 13th album by the band Gregorian . It was released on November 5, 2010. The album contains mostly cover versions of songs that have been reinterpreted in the Gregorian style. The song O Fortuna was released as a single spin-off.

content

The album contains a total of 13 songs. Most of these come originally from other artists. However, the band's own titles are also included. A song, Born to Live (Unheilig), was translated from German into English.

reception

Stephanie Wunderl from the website cdstarts.de awarded 6.5 out of ten points for the album and particularly praised the transmission of Evanescences Bring Me to Life and Madonna's Frozen . The implementation of O Fortuna was described as "rather simple". It was feared that “some listeners will certainly lack the angularity or roughness in one or the other song”. Martin Schneider from the website hooked-on-music.de criticized the implementation of Hells Bells as “awkward”, but wrote: “Since, as usual, the highlights outshine individual, seemingly inevitable failures, the same applies to The Dark Side of the Chant : Thumbs up!".
