The Dark Unspoken is a band from Lemgo that was founded in 1997.
Band history
The band was founded by songwriter and singer Darkun as a solo project. His influences include groups such as Apoptygma Berzerk , Dorsetshire, Project Pitchfork and Terminal Choice . After numerous demo publications in self-distribution, the regular debut album Die by Echoes was released in 2005 . At this time the project began to perform its first live performances , e.g. B. at the New Blood from the Dark Festival 2005 in Flensburg and at the Cold Winter Fest 2007 in Gladbeck .
In 2008 the second album Rotten Memories was released . At the end of the year the band came in sixth place in the Battle of the Bands of the music magazine Sonic Seducer , which was followed by other appearances, for example in November at the first Sheba Shoots Festival in Herford's Ivory. A year later, the formation reached fourth place in the same competition. With the firm entry of guitarist Dirk (ex- Ncor , Samara) and drummer Micha (ex-Ncor, Exilanation ), the project became a band in 2009. In May 2009 The Dark Unspoken appeared in Berlin for the first time with the current line-up.
In 2010 the band members signed the German Echozone label and will be distributed by Intergroove from now on . In October of the same year the album Diode in Your Head? .
In January 2012 the keyboard player Thorsten H. (also active in the industrial project N8STROM2618) joined the band and made his live debut at a concert on January 20, 2012 in the Forum Bielefeld .
The year 2013 began the band with participation in the UNBACO band contest, in which they could move into the finals. Further appearances followed as part of two small mini tours "hopefully no snow" and "beyond your control". In autumn 2013, the formation finally released their fourth album “beyond your control”.
Texts
If the project originally dealt with taboo subjects, such as the cruel way humans deal with nature or the dangers posed by religion being too high , the focus in more recent works has shifted to the criticism of intolerance and one-sided thinking among people. On the fourth album “beyond your control” the content of the lyrics shifts even more towards the consideration of human life. Issues such as burnout , the loss of loved ones or birth into poverty or prosperity are taken up.
