The Fall is a tour album by the British band Gorillaz . It was officially announced on December 20, 2010 and first offered as a free download to members of the Gorillaz Sub Division Fan Club on December 25. Visitors to the album's official website could listen to the entire album as a stream after registering for the band's newsletter free of charge . The CD release and the official download option have been announced for April 18, 2011.

During the Escape to Plastic Beach World Tour for their third studio album Plastic Beach , this album was created as the band's musical diary - in just 32 days. It was recorded and mixed during the Tour stage by North America (including in Vancouver and Montreal ) exclusively on the iPad by Damon Albarn . 20 different iPad apps were used for this. Furthermore, unusual instruments such as Moog Voyager , Korg Vocoder , Ukulele , Microkorg and Omnichord were used to help create the tracks. Some tracks consist entirely of instrumental pieces. The music video for the first single, Phoner to Arizona , a compilation of pictures and impressions of the band members, was also created on the North American leg of the Escape to Plastic Beach World Tour and was published on December 22, 2010 on YouTube . The Fall was released on CD and LP on April 18, 2011 .
