Demon Days is the second studio album released on May 20, 2005 and a concept album of the music project Gorillaz, represented by fictional cartoon characters . The album was made with De La Soul , Neneh Cherry , Martina Topley-Bird , Roots Manuva , MF DOOM , Ike Turner , Bootie Brown from The Pharcyde , with Shaun Ryder and Dennis Hopper, as well as with the London Community Gospel Choir and the Children's Choir of San Fernandez .

The album climbed to No. 1 in the UK charts, No. 2 in the German charts and No. 6 in the US charts, and by 2006 sold over six million copies worldwide. The singles Feel Good Inc. , Dare , Dirty Harry and Kids with Guns / El Mañana were released from the album .

criticism

The album was largely positively received by the critics and received average to very good ratings. The NME gave him 8 out of 10 possible points and called it pretty clever . At Allmusic it got 4½ out of 5 stars, while at Pitchfork Media it got 6.9 out of 10 points. British music magazine Mojo ranked it 18 out of the 50 best albums of 2005 .

In Europe, the album was also released in a limited special edition in 2005, which includes an additional DVD with extensive bonus material. With the track Swagga, the DVD contains another bonus track in audio format, several videos and animations as well as access codes to areas on the band's website that contain additional bonus material - including the bonus track Happy Landfill, which is initially only available in this way for downloading MP3 audio format.
