Gorillaz is the debut album by the band of the same name . It was released in March 2001 and contains the singles Clint Eastwood , 19-2000 , Rock the House and Tomorrow Comes Today .
The album was honored with platinum in the USA and over seven million records were sold worldwide. The Gorillaz were then entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the “most successful virtual band” .

After the EP Tomorrow Comes Today from 2000 and the pre-released single Clint Eastwood on March 5, 2001 , the album is the third release of the Gorillaz . It hit stores on March 26, 2001, followed by singles 19-2000 in June 2001, Rock the House in October 2001, and Tomorrow Comes Today in February 2002.
The tracks Tomorrow Comes Today , Rock the House and Latin Simone are re-releases that were already included on the EP Tomorrow Comes Today .

- The sung tone sequence at the beginning of the track Clint Eastwood is based on the leitmotif of the title melody composed by Ennio Morricone for the Italowestern Two glorious scoundrels (1966).
- In the film Wasabi - A Bull in Japan , the song Starshine can be heard in the scene where Fiorentinis is playing golf with Yakuza boss Takanawa, "the zebra" .
- The repeated call "Hello, is anyone there?" At the beginning of M1 A1 comes from the film Zombie 2 by George A. Romero .
