history
Pat O'Donnell and Steve Belton, who had previously played at Square Meal, worked together in the field of experimental electronic music back in the early 1980s . As a result of this collaboration, soundtracks were created for the work of the performance artist Nigel Rolfe . As a duo they worked u. a. also on the B-side of the Virgin Prunes single New Form Of Beauty .
They also started playing concerts as Belton & O'Donnell with a mixture of New Wave and Techno Rock . In 1983 they were referred to by Bill Graham as a cross between Kraftwerk and The Shadows .
In 1984 the name was changed to The Fountainhead and the debut EP of the same name was released . They then produced two albums, which were released on China Records , but without making a commercial breakthrough. These were much more poppy and dance-heavy in style than the mix of New Wave and Synth Rock from their early days.
In 1986 they opened the Slane concert. In addition, a live album was released in 1987 on Chrysalis Records .
