The Futureheads is the debut album by the British indie rock band The Futureheads of the same name .

The album was produced by Andy Gill, guitarist for Gang of Four , and Paul Epworth. It was released on July 12, 2004 in the UK and October 26, 2004 in the USA . In 2005 a limited edition with two bonus songs and a DVD was released. In addition to the two bonus songs, radio mixes from Decent Days and Nights and Hounds of Love , the Japanese edition also featured the titles Remote Control and Man Made (A Mistake) . The cover picture is inspired by the painting "Lonely Man" by the artist Damien Poulain. The title Hounds of Love is a cover version of the title by singer Kate Bush , which appeared in 1985 on the album of the same name, Hounds of Love .
Reviews
The Futureheads is rated mostly positively in the trade press. Intro compares the band with other British bands such as Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand and says: The Futureheads are rougher, more impetuous, are less concerned with filigree patchwork, are more outrageous and at the same time more down to earth. The partially choir-like singing is also praised: The very special gimmick, however, are the vocals: All four heads sing, and not too close.
For Tanja Hellmig from motor.de "this band is brilliant" . On whiskey-soda.de it says: "It's been a long time since a young band sounded so retro, but at the same time so topical and fresh."

successes
The Futureheads reached number 11 on the UK album charts. The most successful single was the cover version Hounds of Love , which made it to eighth place. The other singles First Day (# 58), Decent Days and Nights (# 26) and Meantime (# 49) also entered the British single charts.
The NME voted the album at number 5 of the albums of the year, the single Hounds of Love was even named the best song of the year. The song Decent Days and Nights reached 37th place in the annual charts. In 2006 the NME even voted the album into the top 100 best British albums of all time . The German magazine Music Express selects The Futureheads at position 27 in the annual polls of 2004.
