Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Great Adventure ( New Jersey , USA ) was a roller coaster on the model Custom Looping Coaster manufacturer's Arrow Dynamics , which opened the 1989th On July 18, 2010 the track was closed and the demolition of the track started.

The track was 53 m high and reached a top speed of 109 km / h. Like its sisters Shockwave in Six Flags Great America and Viper in Six Flags Magic Mountain, it was designed by Ron Toomer. All three lanes have or had three consecutive loops after the first descent . After the three loops, the batwing followed and then the double corkscrew .

The rail was painted red and the supports white.

Trains

The Great American Scream Machine had three trains with seven cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. The passengers had to be at least 1.37 m tall to be allowed to ride. Shoulder straps were used as a restraint system.

The trains were called Freedom , Liberty and Spirit and were red, white and blue. The shoulder straps were also different from many other Arrow roller coasters in that the handles on the temples were made of foam instead of metal. These are also used on Viper (Magic Mountain).

The capacity was 1680 people per hour. The railway's onride camera was at the beginning of the double corkscrew.

Modifications

After the first season, the tops of the loops were replaced with new rails with additional reinforcement due to problems that also surfaced with Shockwave in Six Flags Great America. The original rail of the first loop can be found in the monkey enclosure of the Wild Safari in the same park. Together with the new rail of the first loop, a brake was installed after the loop, which does not serve to brake the train completely, but only to slow it down to a preset speed after the loop.
