The Ivory Game: The Ivory Plot is an Austrian documentary about the ivory trade . It is shown on Netflix . The film was produced by Terra Mater Film Studios .

The documentary traces the routes of ivory smuggling in East Africa . The filmmakers smuggled their way into an ivory smuggling network and recorded many facets of the business for 16 months. The film shows poachers on the hunt, active conservationists and rangers in the parks and the work of the Tanzanian criminal investigation agency NTSCIU.

consequences

The most famous elephant conservationist in Tanzania and protagonist of the film, Wayne Lotter , was shot dead on the street in Dar es Salaam in August 2017 .
