The Last Warning is an Austrian metal group from Obdach in Styria . The group is assigned to the styles Thrash Metal and Death Metal .

history

The band's first demo album, In Case of Fire , was recorded in 2003. A song from it was released on the sampler All Freaks . Based on this, the All-Freaks-Tour with all bands represented on the sampler, which led through Austria, Switzerland and Germany, was born.

In 2004 The Last Warnig got a contract with the indie label Ton 4 Records for the first album Face 2 Face , with which they played their way through numerous clubs and could also be seen on stage at some smaller festivals.

With the next album, Chainbreaker , which was again delivered on Ton 4 Records, the band's paths now expanded to Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This album gave the band the first opportunity to share the stage with big names in the scene like Maroon or Deadsoil .

Another big event in the band's career was a tour of Indonesia in the summer of 2007. There The Last Warning performed at the "Headbangers in Hell" festival as well as on some club shows in Jakarta . In addition to the tour through Bali , the Soundrenaline Festival in Padang ( Sumatra ) was the absolute highlight for the band, where they played in front of 20,000 people on the main stage as one of the headliners. After the tour in Asia, the band played a few shows in Austria and Eastern Europe. Then they began to write new songs again.

In the summer of 2008, The Last Warning was invited to Indonesia again to show off their skills at the major Indonesian music festivals. During the tour, guitarist Stefan Lanz fell ill and was treated in a hotel in Padang (Sumatra) with a high fever and suspected malaria . The band therefore played a shortened program in front of 40,000 festival-goers with only one guitarist at the festival in this city. Fortunately, the high fever turned out to be harmless.

After the tour, the band went to guitarist Roland Sattler's studio to record the new songs for another album. The album, entitled Elegance of Bloodiness , led to a new worldwide record deal with the German label 7Hard Records . With this album in their luggage, the band mainly played its way through stages in Central Europe.

After Elegance of Bloodiness the musicians realized that they had reached a key point in their careers and decided to look for a producer for the new production. The choice fell on RD Liapakis, the producer and singer of Mystic Prophecy and Devils Train , who had also produced the well-known Greek thrash metal band Suicidal Angels . The production of the new CD was however massively delayed - on the one hand due to organizational factors (scheduling collisions in the studio etc.) and on the other hand due to a chronic hand injury of drummer Markus Zuber.

In February 2012 The Last Warning went to the “Music Factory Prophecy” studios in Kempten (Germany) and produced the new album with Liapakis and sound engineer Christian Schmid. Liapakis was able to work out the special musical style of The Last Warning very well and the album Progression was created , the title of which should underline the further development of the band. With the finished production, a contract was signed with the renowned German metal label Massacre Records , where the album was released in July 2013.

Progression received consistently positive reviews from the well-known German-language media.

style

Musically, The Last Warning is repeatedly assigned to different metal genres such as Thrash Metal , Death Metal or Metalcore .

The lyrics of the band mostly deal with socially critical and personal topics. Although the lyrics are very often dark, the band makes a point of having a positive attitude in their statements.

The 2013 album Progression contains the song The Beast , which is about the life of the Austrian serial killer Jack Unterweger .
