The Real Cancun is an American reality film from 2003 . The action takes place in Cancun , Mexico , where 16 casted Americans spend their spring break . The vacation is paid for by the production company, but the participants are followed by cameras around the clock. The film runs about the same as numerous reality TV shows.

- Although sex is censored in the film, it is explicitly shown four times. Although The Real Cancun was marketed as a documentary , the producers deliberately cut away controversial material, such as a scene in which the twins got into an argument with Snoop Dogg after he had sexually molested them.
- After a week of shooting and only a month of editing time, the film opened in US cinemas on April 25, 2003. The box office profits were over five million dollars on a budget of seven million dollars.
- Laura Ramsey became the only cast member to become a professional actress after appearing on The Real Cancun.
- In 2003 the film was nominated for the Golden Raspberry as the worst film, but lost to love with risk - Gigli .
- The Real Cancun advertised being the first reality movie, even though the similar film Beach Party Animals was released just a month earlier .
