history

Tony Micale and John Dean first sang in the 1958s with the "Larados" before they founded the group of five "The Reflection" in 1963. All four lived in the Detroit area . The group brought their first record out in 1963 with the small Detroit record company Kay Ko. At the end of the year they managed to sign a record deal with Golden World, which was also based in Detroit.

The first single on the new label was released in February 1964, and their B-side title (Just Like) Romeo & Juliet became Reflections' biggest success. He rose to number six in the Hot 100 of the US music magazine Billbord and reached number three in the rhythm and blues charts . Golden World took the success as an opportunity to bring Reflections, a long-playing record of the same name, onto the market in the same year. Singles with Romeo & Juliet also appeared in Great Britain , the Netherlands , Canada and Australia, among others . "Romeo & Juliet" sold over a million times. The Reflections was taken by Dick Clark on the "Caravan of Stars" tour, where they performed together with Gene Pitney and the Supremes in 27 US states. She then invited James Brown to take part in his New York revue. By 1965, Reflections had two more songs, Like Columbus Did and Poor Man's Son , that made it into the Hot 100. They also had an appearance in the film Winter A Go-Go (The totally crazy ski hotel) . After the contract with Golden World expired after nine singles and one long-playing record at the end of 1965, two more singles were produced by ABC-Paramount in 1966 , but they were unsuccessful.

Tony Micale left the Reflections in 1966 and tried his hand at being a solo singer. He was replaced as the lead singer by Frank Amodeo. There is only one known Golden World single of Micale, which he sang as Tony Michaels ( Picture Me And You / I Love The Life I Live , GW No. 41). Decades later, Tony Micale and John Dean reactivated Reflections with three new singers and they toured the States and Canada. In 1991, the Reflections were inducted into the Michigan Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
