The Rifles are a four-piece English indie rock band from London . Their style is influenced by The Clash and Britpop of the 1990s, but they list a number of other influences on their Myspace page.
history
All four founding members are from London. Singer Joel Stoker and bassist Rob Pyne come from the north-east part of Walthamstow , drummer Grant Marsh also from north-east London, from Chingford , and guitarist Lucas Crowther from central Kentish Town . They have been making music together since 2003, their first concert took place in January 2004 at the sold out Bull & Gate Club in London. The breakthrough came quickly, not least because of the debut single Peace & Quiet . It was put on heavy rotation by BBC Radio One DJs Zane Low and Steve Lamacq , and ex- Blur guitarist Graham Coxon heard that The Rifles were his favorite band.
With such merits, Ian Broudie became aware of the group and offered to produce the debut album for The Rifles. The offer was accepted and on July 17, 2006 their debut album No Love Lost was released on the band's label Right Hook Recordings in England. On January 26, 2009, the follow-up album Great Escape was released .
On October 17, 2010 it was announced that drummer Grant Marsh and bassist Rob Pyne had left the band. The Rifles' third studio album, Freedom Run , was released on September 16, 2011.
