The Royal Teens were a rock 'n' roll band formed in New Jersey in 1957 . She became known with her single Short shorts , which reached number 3 in the US charts in 1958 . The follow-up single Believe me in 1958 was only 26th. An LP was never recorded. The band split in 1965.
The saxophonist Bill Crandle founded the group The Knickerbockers in the same year ; the pianist Bob Gaudio later became a member of The Four Seasons ; the guitarist Al Kooper founded the group Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1967 .
Trivia
The title Short shorts , written by Bill Crandle, was played and mentioned several times on the television show The Simpsons .
