action

Malcolm and his younger partner Paul move house to house in an Australian suburb trying to convert the residents to their church. However, their undertaking is crowned with little success. Only Carmel seems to care about her church, at least Paul thinks, since this is what Malcolm tells him after visiting her alone. Malcolm claims that Carmel is very shy. When other colleagues hear about it, they think it would be better to tell their pastor about this practice. Cornered at a meeting, Malcolm Carmel's husband accuses Carmel's husband of adultery, whereupon all the gathering pray together against the evil in this marriage. Malcolm has panic written on his face that he slept with Carmel on his visits and the only reason he no longer does it because she denies him entry into her house. He is now secretly watching her and her husband Tony.

The next day Paul insists on accompanying Malcolm on his visit to Carmel. A scuffle breaks out, at the end of which Paul runs away in horror. Malcolm now seeks the husband to talk to him about his marriage and the possibility of a divorce. Suddenly Carmel comes back from shopping. Paul approaches her in a friendly manner and wants to help her with the shopping, but she kicks him in the buttocks and rudely sends him away. Malcolm and Tony hear about this, and Tony reports that his wife is a staunch atheist. When she enters the house and sees Malcolm sitting in the living room with her husband, she rushes into the bathroom to vomit loudly. On the occasion of this incident, Tony proudly informs Malcolm that she is pregnant. Now Paul ventures into the house too. Tony is in a good mood and asks the two of them if the pregnancy could not be a miracle, after all they had been trying to have a baby for ten years and the doctors had told him that he was sterile. When Carmel comes back into the room, Malcolm congratulates both of them and Paul thinks it's time to hand over a Bible, but Carmel declines with thanks. A reference by Malcolm to the miracle he just experienced lets Tony access it. Malcolm leaves the house with a slam and Paul offers to continue the conversation.
