The Six Parts Seven is an American post-rock band formed in Kent , Ohio in 1995 .

history

The band was formed in 1995 by the brothers Allen (electric guitar) and Jay Karpinski (drums). After the debut album In Lines and Patterns ... was released in 1998 , Silence Magnifies Sound was released in 2000 with Tim Gerak (electric guitar, samples) and Brad Visker (bass). Two years later, the line-up expanded with the addition of Matt Haas (Hawaiian guitar) and Steven Clements (piano). In March 2002 the album Things Shaped was released in Passing . For the next two years, the band went on tour promoting the album. During this time, a split release with The Black Keys appeared and also recorded a remix album, which was released in autumn 2003 under the name Lost Notes from Forgotten Songs . In 2004 and 2007 another album was released with Everywhere, and Right Here and Casually Smashed to Pieces .

style

The band plays post rock, which in contrast to bands of the genre such as Tortoise , Mogwai , Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Slint is more like simple background music.
