The Solti Foundation US

The Solti Foundation US is an American foundation in memory of the conductor Georg Solti , based in Evanston , Illinois .

The Solti Foundation US was founded in 2000. The foundation's mission is to support talented young American musicians at the beginning of their professional careers. Since 2004, the foundation has concentrated exclusively on promoting young American conductors. The honorary chairwoman of the foundation is Georg Solti's widow Valerie Solti .

There are three different prizes awarded:

  • The Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award, the Solti Fellow , endowed with 25,000 $ (promotion of an artist over two years, age 38 years old).
  • The Sir Georg Solti Emerging Conductor Award , endowed with $ 10,000 (funding for an artist over one year, age limit 35 years)
  • The Solti Foundation US Career Development Award , endowed with $ 5,000 (funding for an artist for over one year, age limit 32 years)
