The Tender Tale of Cinderella Penguin , French title La Tendre Histoire de Cendrillon pingouin , is a Canadian animated short film directed by Janet Perlman in 1981 .

action

A romantically inclined female penguin lives with her mother and her two step-sisters in a house. While she has to do the housework, the others always dress up. One day the prince invites to a ball and the mother and step-sisters go richly dressed. The penguin, who is responsible for the housework, remains sadly behind. Suddenly a little penguin fairy appears, transforms mice into penguin horses and a pumpkin in the garden into a carriage. The penguin receives a festive dress, white heeled shoes in the shape of swimming fins and the requirement to be home by midnight.

At the ball, the prince only dances with the penguin, who, however, rushes to leave shortly before midnight. In the process he loses a shoe. The prince is now looking for the penguin and the mother and stepsisters are also cleaning their feet. The penguin is locked in the cellar with one foot trapped in the cellar door. When the stepsisters quarrel about the prince's shoe, it falls directly onto the penguin's trapped foot. The prince has found his treasure and the wedding is on.
