content

The Visit is the documentation of an event that never happened like this. Little fascinates mankind more than space. But what happens if extraterrestrial life actually ends up on earth? People try as best they can to plan for such an eventuality, but the unknown denominator of lack of experience remains. Organizations such as UNOOSA , ESA , NASA , various defense ministries and scientific institutions have already made preparations on how to deal with "the alien" on earth.

production

The film was made as a European co-production. The producer Lise Lense-Møller is from the Danish production company Magic Hour Films. Co-producers are Michael Kitzberger, Wolfgang Widerhofer, Nikolaus Geyrhalter , Markus Glaser from Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion from Austria, Andrew Freedman from Venom Films from Ireland, Sami Jahnukainen from Mouka Filmi from Finland and Carsten Aanonsen from Indie Film from Norway.

Reviews

Since The Visit has so far only been shown in Sundance and at the Crossing Europe Festival in Linz, the film has so far mainly been reviewed in the US press: “Michael Madsen's approach and the use of the documentation form is of course unconventional, which is the right tone for sets an unconventional scenario, as it were, which extends into even wider tangents. As a result, the Scandinavian documentary positions itself as an experiment that creates an eerie, sublime and self-observing new sense of truth that is as fascinating as it is alarming, ”writes Amanda Yam on Ioncinema.com. With his special approach, Michael Madsen, who works heavily on an audiovisual level, addresses a special audience, as Jason Gorber from Twitchfilm.com finds: “As a very intellectual film, it is still entertaining with its captivating imagery and fascinating premise. This speculative documentary is not suitable for an easily distracted audience, but rather for those who are ready to embark on a journey into the unknown. It's a trip that is worth it. "

As a result, this Scandi-docu stands as an experiment, creating an uncanny, lofty, and self-reflexive new sense of verite that is both intriguing and alarming. "
