content
Paco, a young dog, is owned by puma hunters in Sonora , Mexico . Since he is repeatedly abused by them, he runs away, swims through a river and ends up in the United States, where he hopes to find a kind owner. He actually succeeds, for which he shows his gratitude in his very own way.

The film, produced by Walt Disney Productions and distributed by Buena Vista Film Distribution Company and American Broadcasting Company , was first released in the United States on June 19, 1957. The film was first shown in Japan on January 1, 1958.
The Wetback Hound is one of two companion films produced in parallel with the release of the Johnny Tremain film. The second is the animated film The Story of Anyburg USA by Clyde Geronimi .
Award
The film, produced by Larry Lansburgh , won an Oscar at the 1958 Academy Awards in the “Best Short Film” (Live Action) category.
