TheaterBurg Roßlau
The TheaterBurg Roßlau is a theater project at the Roßlau Castle in Dessau-Roßlau .
Since 1996, every year between July and mid-September (the rooms in the castle cannot be heated), performances and theater-pedagogical actions have taken place at various locations in the castle. The performances are primarily provided by the independent theater groups “Lenzbühne” Dessau-Roßlau, “Werkbühne Berlin” and “Chekh-Off-Players” Berlin. Ensemble members of the Anhaltisches Theater take part in jazz and poetry events. The highlights are the Burgtheater summer (August) and, as part of the “ Anhalt Puppet Theater Festival ”, the day of the puppet show (on the day of the open monument in September).
After seven years of successful work, the theater had to cancel the Roßlau Burgtheater summer planned for August 2012 because the funding applied for by the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Culture was not approved. The German Cultural Council then put the TheaterBurg Roßlau on the Red List of Culture . But the theater summer could be held again since 2013 thanks to a new 'financing mix'.
