Theater Mausefalle Solothurn

The Theater Mausefalle Solothurn is a small theater with 100 seats. It has existed since 1993 and its events take part in the cultural life of the Swiss canton capital Solothurn . Today it is located in the former staff restaurant of the Sulzer area in Zuchwil and is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

history

Rudolf Fischer, a cantonal school professor in Solothurn, brought a text he had just read onto the stage with a Latin class in the late 1960s. After this production was successful, he offered free theater courses at the Solothurn Cantonal School and over the years brought numerous plays to the stage - at that time in the auditorium of the Cantonal School or in the Muttiturm.

In 1984 Rudolf Fischer founded the Fischer drama group together with high school graduates who wanted to continue to play theater. Many other young people joined this group in the following years.

In 1993, with the opening of the theater Mausefalle Solothurn realized at the Grenchenstrasse own theater locality. The new Solothurn stage got its name from the first production, the crime play " Die Mausefalle " by Agatha Christie . Since 1996 the acting group has called itself Fischer Teatro Mobile Solothurn. The Mausefalle Solothurn theater is therefore the home stage of the Teatro Mobile actor ensemble. In the summer of 2009, the active actors and contributors of the Teatro Mobile, who have been running the Theater Mausefalle since it was founded, formed the Theater Mausefalle Solothurn association. From 2010 to 2015 Remo Streit presided over the club. 2015 to 2019 Jonathan Sollberger, who handed over to Michael Weibel. The founder Dr. Rudolf Fischer was appointed honorary president by the general assembly. Remo Streit, Jonathan Sollberger and David Gnägi are honorary members. All of them are still active in the acting business. Since his resignation, Remo Streit has also been running his own association called "monday's culture management" with the aim of cross-disciplinary cultural mediation in the Solothurn region.

As an amateur stage with high standards, the Theater Mausefalle Solothurn offers theater in all its breadth. Since it was founded, around 200 productions of the most varied genres have been shown: sketches, comedies and farces, contemporary plays and dramas , musicals, Greek comedies and tragedies , improvisational theater and also great classics of theater literature. In addition, open-air performances at Schloss Blumenstein in Solothurn provide variety at the end of the season . Also in cooperation with the museum, Pro 7 shot a documentary about Casanova for the program Galileo with ensemble members , which made some of the actors known to a larger audience.

Since the beginning of 2010, the Theater Mausefalle Solothurn and the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl have organized the poetry slam series “Mouth-Right”, which takes place alternately in the Theater Mausefalle and in the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl. The Theater Mausefalle Solothurn took part in the Solothurn Culture Night in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 with its own program. Several times a year, the Ensemble Teatro Mobile Solothurn also performs outside on invitation. In order to give young people in particular access to the theater, fairytale performances in dialect as well as free theater courses for children and young people and holiday pass events are offered on a regular basis.

The ensemble

The association that runs the theater currently has around 60 members. They are all firmly established in their professions or in their studies, and in their free time they work on a voluntary basis as actors as well as set designers , technicians and as operational staff at the Mausefalle Theater in Solothurn. In one season they rehearse around nine to ten pieces and show them on their stage.

The theater work

The peculiarity of the Theater Mausefalle Solothurn is that the individual ensemble members have extensive say, it is cultivated both in the selection of the pieces and in the process of the production itself: an individual member of the ensemble or a small group plans a production, puts it from the pool of people The right line-up and, after consultation with the director of the program, brings the piece onto the stage. The Theater Mausefalle Solothurn does not know an authoritarian direction , most of the time the actors of the respective production direct together.

The Theater Mausefalle Solothurn could not be so successful without the Friends of the Teatro Mobile Solothurn, a loose group of patrons who each make an annual contribution to the operation of the theater.
