Thed Björk (born December 14, 1980 in Vretstorp ) is a Swedish racing driver .

Career

Thed Björk drove in several karting series from 1992 to 1997 . In 1998 he switched to the Nordic Formula 3 series , where he was third in the overall standings. He also took part in the Swedish Formula 3 championship. In 1999 he won both championships. In 2000 he switched to the Barber Dodge Pro series and finished tenth overall.

From 2001 he drove in a wide variety of racing series such as the Swedish touring car championship , the Nordic Formula 3000 championship and the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup before joining the DTM for two races in 2006 . In the same year he also celebrated his greatest success in motorsport with the overall victory in the touring car championship in his home country Sweden.

After becoming the first driver to win the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (STCC) three times in a row (2013-2015) , Björk was active as a driver in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). In his first full season, he already took part in a race weekend in 2013, he clinched a victory for Volvo in 2016, the debut year. In 2017 he became World Touring Car Champion for the first time with two wins and seven podium finishes.

Björk has been taking part in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) since 2018 , after the WTCC lost its FIA World Championship status.
