Theißenstein is a place in the town of Rödental in the Upper Franconian district of Coburg ( Bavaria ).

The former hamlet is about eight kilometers east of Coburg , north of the Krebsbach . The settlement was first mentioned in 1340 as "Theisselstein". One of the numerous rock groups near the place could have given it its name.

In 1837 Theißenstein had 27 inhabitants. On July 1, 1869, the place was forcibly incorporated into Spittelstein . In 1925 the village comprised 49 residents and eight residential buildings. The school was in Spittelstein, 0.3 kilometers away, and the Protestant church in Einberg, 2.2 kilometers away .

In 1950, 54 people lived in seven residential buildings in the hamlet. In 1970 there were 43 people. For the 1987 census, no more population figures were published for Theißenstein, only a footnote that it had merged with Spittelstein.

On January 1, 1969, Spittelstein merged with the district of Theißenstein and the neighboring community of Blumenrod to form the new community of Steinrod , which was dissolved on January 1, 1977 and incorporated into the town of Rödental. Theißenstein has now risen in the neighboring Spittelstein.
