history

Reign of Theinselberg

A church had existed in Theinselberg since 1167. The rule of Theinselberg had many changing masters over the centuries. At the beginning of the 14th century, the Lords of Ratzenried, followed by the Dukes of Teck, ruled from 1370 to 1439. From 1439 to 1442 Hans von Stein zu Ronsberg was wealthy in Theinselberg. He sold his property to the noble family Rothenstein in 1442. Until 1482, the Lords of Rothenstein , namely Ludwig von Rothenstein , ruled Theinselberg. With the death of Ludwig von Rothenstein, his entire property passed to the von Pappenheim . As a result, in 1559, Philipp von Pappenheim introduced the Zwingli Reformation to Theinselberg as well. One of the oldest Evangelical Reformed parishes in Germany still exists in Theinselberg (together with the Herbishofen parish ) and its sister parish in Bad Grönenbach . The marshals von Pappenheim were able to hold the property until 1692/1695 and then sold it to the prince monastery of Kempten . In the course of secularization in 1803, Theinselberg became Bavarian.

To the north of the Evangelical Reformed Church of St. Afra is a castle stable . The entire area of the Burgstall is a listed building .
