Thelma Wright

Thelma Wright ( Thelma Sonia Wright, née Fynn; born October 9, 1951 in Eastbourne , United Kingdom ) is a former Canadian middle and long distance runner .

In 1970 she won bronze over 1500 m at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and failed over 800 m in the heat.

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she was eliminated over 1500 m in the first round. Over the same distance she won bronze at the Pacific Conference Games in 1973 and at the British Commonwealth Games in 1974 . In 1975 silver medals followed at the Universiade over 3000 m and at the Pan American Games in Mexico City over 1500 m.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she did not come back over 1500 m over the lead.

In 1977 she took 21st place at the World Cross Country Championships in Düsseldorf .

She was Canadian champion over 1500 m three times (1971, 1974, 1975), one time over 3000 m (1974) and four times in cross country (1967, 1968, 1973, 1974).

She is married to hockey player Lee Wright . Their son, Anthony Wright, is also a hockey player.
