Theme day
Theme day and theme week are corresponding periods of time that are dedicated to a specific topic. These can recur regularly, e.g. B. on the occasion of an annual action day , or once for a specific occasion, e.g. B. a round anniversary take place.
Media providers such as television stations occasionally design the program for a day or a week in such a way that as many contributions or episodes as possible have a common reference, which can be, for example, in the first broadcast of a popular film in a suitable setting (so-called cross-promotion ), but also in social or health complexes for which more attention is to be drawn as part of the educational mandate and which are often combined with donation marathons .
Examples
In addition to Casual Friday , i.e. H. Restricted dress code on Fridays, some companies also have other practices that are limited to a day of the week, e.g. As the Mettwoch where Wednesdays Mettbrötchen be consumed.
Throwback Thursday is common on a lot of social media . H. On Thursdays, an earlier post is either canceled again ( repost ), or a nostalgic reference is made in some other way, e.g. with a historical photo.
3sat (special program from ARD , ZDF , ORF , SRF ) has been offering theme days, weeks and even a theme days festival at the end of the year since 1989 .
The ARD has been organizing the ARD theme week once a year in all of its programs since 2006 .
The McDonald's restaurant chain regularly offers limited-time products on a common theme, often in a geographical region. One of the first and most famous of these theme weeks was the Los Wochos with dishes inspired by Texmex cuisine. Other restaurants, canteens and cafeterias have adopted the concept, and it flows smoothly into seasonal offers, such as asparagus time , or complements traditions such as fish as the main course on Friday or newer promotions such as the Veggieday .
At many schools in the German-speaking area it has become common practice that the graduating classes organize a themed week, especially shortly before they are awarded their Abitur, in which, for example, they appear uniformly differently every day.
