Theo Bungarten (* 1946 in Adenau ) is a German specialist in German .

Life

He attended high schools in Lahnstein , Münstermaifeld and Adenau. From 1966 to 1976 studied German, philosophy , education and communication sciences at the University of Bonn . There he received his doctorate in German linguistics in 1973 (with Hugo Moser ) and was a research associate in the DFG research project Word indices on late medieval texts at the Institute for Communication Research and Phonetics and from 1974 to 1975 in the research project Linguistic Data Processing II of the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology at the Institute for Germans Language, Research Centers Bonn. From 1976 to 1983 he was a research assistant for German linguistics at the Germanic seminar at the University of Hamburg . Since 1983 he has taught there as a professor of German linguistics.

His main research interests are technical language theory and methodology, scientific languages, business languages, business and corporate communication, corporate culture, corporate identity, globalization and communication, language policy, intercultural communication and tourism, linguistic methodology, "Hamburger Kommunikationmonitor", company names, product and brand names , Communication training and analysis of (anonymous) text and audio documents (forensic linguistics). He was also the editor of the book series “Hamburg Works on Technical Language Research”.
