Theo Koenen (born February 11, 1890 - † September 8, 1964 ) was a German football player . Koenen came on December 17, 1911 in Munich for an international match in the national team against Hungary.

career

Koenen played for Bonner FV from 1901 to 1931 . With the black and whites from the sports field on Richard-Wagner-Strasse, he carried out the association games in the "Ten League West" from 1909/10 to 1912/13. The best placement was fifth in 1912/13 . The outstanding team-mate was national player Josef Schümmelfelder . Koenen came on December 17, 1911 in Munich for an international match against Hungary. The appeal was made because the originally planned Karlsruhe defense attorney Ernst Hollstein had to cancel because of a teacher's exam. The defensive player formed the German defender pair with Walter Hempel from Leipzig in the 1: 4 defeat. In addition to Koenen, Willi Knesebeck and Julius Hirsch also made their debut in the DFB-Elf, which was led by captain Camillo Ugi . The international game was headed by the later association captain of Austria, Hugo Meisl . With the Hungarians, the attack leader Imre Schlosser distinguished himself with two goals. Further assignments in the national team were not granted to the later teacher.

For the regional selection of West Germany, the Bonn defender completed four games in the competition for the Crown Prince's Cup from 1911 to 1918 . In the 1917/18 competition he failed with West Germany on March 29, 1918 in Hamburg in the semifinals against the representation of North Germany after a 3-0 defeat. Previously, on October 14, 1917 in Düsseldorf, the West German mission had defeated southern Germany 3-1. Koenen played as a right defender as usual and Walter Fischer from Duisburger SV stormed on the left wing.
