Theo Linz

Theo Linz , pseudonym of Theodor Julius Geyer , (* 1928 in Linz ; † November 1, 2009 ) was an Austrian painter , draftsman , filmmaker , cultural journalist and innkeeper.

Live and act

Known for his creativity and exuberant imagination, the artist studied from 1945 at the Linz School of Applied Arts under Paul Ikrath and Rudolf Hoflehner, was considered an avant-garde from the start and began his career as a painter. In a post-war exhibition of Upper Austrian artists in Linz in 1949, his large-format picture served as a figurehead.

After studying dramaturgy from 1952 with Eberhart Frowein , he worked as a screenwriter , director and producer in Munich . By 1974 a total of 147 feature, documentary, advertising and television films were made. In the 1970s he returned to Linz and worked as an editor for ORF .

Linz ran the first Austrian children's gallery and was a member of the Upper Austrian Art Association . Some of his works are in the art collection of the province of Upper Austria.
