Life

In 1926 he founded the Dutch jazz band The Original Ramblers Dance Orchestra , and in 1929 the band recorded their first records. In the 1930s they were considered the leading and most "progressive" Dutch swing band, according to Hawkins biographer Teddy Doering. In 1935 she accompanied Coleman Hawkins during his stay in the Netherlands and in the following years other great jazz musicians. Two recording sessions took place with Hawkins in February ("I Wish I Were Twins") and in August 1935 ("Meditation"). The arranger for the second session was trumpeter Jack Bulterman .

In the 1940s the band was almost more popular in Belgium than in the Netherlands and was also known in Germany . After the war, she stayed in Belgium for the time being, as she had lost sympathy in her home country through cooperation with German propaganda organizations during the war. In 1964 Masman broke up the band because of health problems.
