The Theodor-Heuss-Brücke , also called Südbrücke , is a road bridge south of the East Westphalian city of Minden , which spans the Weser in the course of Bundesstraße 65 . In the east it is connected via the motorway-like road to Bückeburg , to the west the road ends in Barkhausen .
Geographical location
The Theodor-Heuss-Brücke stands in the south of the urban area of Minden near the Neesen and Barkhausen districts of the city of Porta Westfalica . This is an increase of the north between Weser and Wiehengebirge befindlichem Weser breakthrough Porta Westfalica .
history
The road bridge, then still called the Südbrücke, was built in the 1970s as a prestressed concrete bridge. The load-bearing part is designed according to the concrete beam system. The abutments were built deep, while the dams were not excavated. This simplified foundation reduced the construction costs. In 1973 it was opened to traffic.
With it and the then so-called north bridge, the city of Minden and the central Weser crossing at the bridge gate should be relieved. The connections from the north and south bridges to the surrounding area have only been partially implemented.
The Theodor-Heuss-Brücke was originally intended to accommodate the then planned Federal Motorway 30 , and the road to the south was to be connected with a tunnel under the Wiehengebirge, but these plans were discarded. In the meantime, it has found a traffic connection on the western bank through the Weserauentunnel , which carries traffic through the Porta Westfalica to the south to the connection to the northern bypass in Bad Oeynhausen and thus to the A 30.
Minden south bypass
In 2014, Straßen.NRW initiated a plan approval procedure that will connect the bridge in the west to the previous B 65. The route leads through the districts of Haddenhausen, Dützen, Häverstädt, Barkhausen and Eickhorst. This construction phase is described as the Minden southern bypass.
In the current federal traffic route plan from 2004, the construction project is classified as an "urgent need".
The planning documents could be viewed as part of the public display until September 24, 2014 in the town halls of Porta Westfalica and Minden as well as in the Detmold administrative district.
The interpretation of the documents triggered a heated public debate.
