Theodor Grust
Theodor Grust (born August 27, 1857 in Meißen ; † November 9, 1919 in Meißen) was a German genre and porcelain painter. From 1905 to 1909 he was a painter manager at the Meissen porcelain factory .
Grust studied from 1878 at the Art Academy in Dresden and was there at times a student of Theodor Grosse . In 1886 he moved to Munich . From there he went on study trips to Belgium and the Netherlands.
In 1898 he returned to Meissen. There he first became an employee and later painter manager of the Royal Saxon Porcelain Manufactory. Numerous shape and decor designs come from Grust, e. B. the "clover leaf decor", the "bracket decor" or the "Misnia" decor. During this time he also created several oil paintings depicting scenes from the petty-bourgeois genre.
In the years 1905/06 he was entrusted with the artistic direction of the restoration of the so-called prince's train on the north wall of the stable yard in Dresden.
