Theodor Hummel

Theodor Hummel (born November 15, 1864 in Schliersee , † August 8, 1939 in Munich ) was a German painter .

Life

Theodor Hummel studied from 1883 to 1888 with Nikolaus Gysis and Ludwig von Löfftz at the Munich Academy . From 1892 he was a member of the Munich Secession and had a painting school in Munich. In 1895 he transferred the management of the school to Olga Boznańska . In 1903 Theodor Hummel founded a painting school in Berlin with the support of Walter Leistikow . A year later, in 1904, he married Pauline Ritter and returned to Munich in 1906, where he was appointed professor in 1909. He became a member of the artist group "Die Frauenwörther" on Frauenchiemsee . In 1925 he was made an honorary member of the Munich Academy. From 1927 to 1933 he was a guest of the artists' association “ Die Welle ” in Prien am Chiemsee . His works were purchased by the Neue Pinakothek in Munich and the Bavarian State Painting Collection , among others .

Theodor Hummel was a member of the German Association of Artists .
