Theodor Langhans
Johann Ferdinand Friedrich Theodor Langhans (born September 28, 1839 in Usingen (Hesse), † October 22, 1915 in Bern ) was a German pathological anatomist.
Langhans studied medicine in Heidelberg, Göttingen, Berlin and Würzburg. In 1864 he was at the University of Heidelberg to the Dr. med. PhD. In 1867 he became a private lecturer in Marburg. Langhans was a full professor of pathological anatomy at the University of Giessen and from 1872 to 1913 a full professor of pathological anatomy at the University of Bern .
Langhans was the first to describe the giant cells named after him ( Langhans giant cells ).
