Theresa genus

Theresa Genus CNZM (* 1962 in Wellington ) is an entrepreneur and manager from New Zealand . From 1999 to 2007 she was CEO of Telecom New Zealand Group, the largest company in the country.

Career

The Telecom New Zealand is with 8,500 employees and a turnover of approximately 2.8 billion euros (2008) one of the largest mobile and telecommunications companies in Australia and New Zealand. The company is the largest on the New Zealand Exchange by market capitalization . After various intermediate positions in the company (e.g. from 1996 General Manager of the Services division , then the Marketing division ) Theresa Gattung took over the position of CEO from her predecessor Rod Deane in October 1999 , which she held until 2007. With a tenure of around 8 years, she was one of the longest-serving company leaders in her country, her tenure is described as successful for the company.

Gattung studied at the University of Waikato ( Bachelor of Management Studies ) and Victoria University of Wellington ( Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. ) and before joining Telecom NZ worked for the Bank of New Zealand , among others .

In 2006, genus was ranked 49th on the Forbes list of the world's most influential women (List of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women). The New Zealand Herald , the largest circulation newspaper in New Zealand, ranks it among the top 10 business leaders in New Zealand in recent years.
