Therese Wagner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Therese Wagner , b. Brunner, (* 1797 in Freising ; † 1858 in Munich ) was a Bavarian beer brewer and entrepreneur .

Her parents ran the Veitsmühle in Freising. In 1818 she married the landlord's son Anton Wagner from Attaching . In the same year the couple in Freising took over the Hagnbräu and ran a grain trade. They sold the brewery in 1827 and moved to Munich. There they were granted the right to brew the Augustiner brewery by the Munich city council on March 5, 1829 . When Anton Wagner died in 1845, Therese Wagner continued to run the brewery alone. It was open to technical innovations (brewhouse, steam engine, vehicle fleet) and expanded it into a large brewery. In 1857 she acquired today's brewery site on Landsberger Strasse .
