Therese zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg

Therese zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (born June 9, 1869 ; † December 21, 1927 in Tübingen ) was a pioneer of the rural women movement in southern Germany and first chairwoman of the state association of agricultural housewives' associations in Württemberg.

origin

Her parents were Alfred zu Erbach-Fürstenau (1813–1874) and his wife, Princess Louise von Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen (1835–1913).

Life

She married on November 26, 1889 in Fürstenau Friedrich Karl zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (1846-1924). In 1908 the son Friedrich Karl III. born.

Therese Fürstin zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst campaigned for the establishment of a school for farmers' daughters. She knew country schools from other parts of Germany. In 1916 she founded the first rural women’s association in Württemberg in Öhringen . 1922 a ceremony was opened under the Hohenlohe'sche rural woman school Kupferzell in Castle Kupferzell . From then on, farmer's daughters were prepared for their varied tasks in rural areas. The first course then started on May 1st of the year. The Hohenlohe Women's School took its first final exam on September 22, 1922. This was also connected to the official inauguration. Therese zu Hohenlohe was also present at this solemn act. Thanks to their courtesy, the Chamber of Agriculture was able to acquire the Kupferzell Castle. The expression of sincere thanks to the Princely House was evident in the fact that the facility was called Hohenlohe'sche Women's School .
