Alfred Graf zu Erbach-Fürstenau

Count Raimund Alfred Friedrich Franz August Maximilian zu Erbach-Fürstenau (born October 6, 1813 in Fürstenau ; † October 25, 1874 in Bad Wildungen ) was a German nobleman and Hessian politician . He was a member and president of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

origin

His parents were Count Albrecht August Ludwig zu Erbach-Fürstenau (1787-1851) and his wife Sophie zu Hohenlohe-Neuenstein-Ingelfingen (1788-1859).

Life

He received his school education at the Progymnasium in Michelstadt and then at the Gymnasium in Tübingen. He then attended the military academy in Ludwigsburg (Württemberg).

In 1832 he enrolled at the University of Heidelberg. He later studied law and political science at the Universities of Marburg and Berlin. On November 7, 1838, he took his oath as a member of the First Chamber of the 8th Landtag of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt. He remained a member of parliament until 1841.

Alfred Graf zu Erbach-Fürstenau went to Austrian military service as a lieutenant in 1841, where he was promoted to first lieutenant in 1843. From 1844 to 1849 he was a member of the First Chamber of the 10. – 11. State Parliament of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt, where he was excused for his military service in 1848/49. Nevertheless, in 1845 he was appointed captain of the infantry. In 1848 he was the orderly officer of the general of the cavalry during the campaign against Hungary .

In July 1851 he succeeded his late father Albrecht Graf zu Erbach-Fürstenau as the successor to the class rule, but in October 1852 he was again a captain in Austrian service. In 1854 he was promoted to major there. Since 1856 he was a member of the First Chamber of the 15. – 21. Parliament of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt and its first president since 1866.

After the ecclesiastical union between Reformed and Lutherans in Hesse-Darmstadt, he belonged to the independent Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hesse from 1877 onwards , as the unruly confessional Lutheran pastor Christian Müller was the tutor and chaplain in the Erbach-Fürstenau house.

Alfred Graf zu Erbach-Fürstenau was married to Louise (Lisi), Princess zu Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen (born March 25, 1835 in Breslau ; † July 15, 1913 in the Krähberg hunting lodge ). She was a daughter of the Prussian Prime Minister Adolf zu Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen . The couple had 10 children:
