Theresia Widiastuti

Theresia Widiastuti (* 1954 ) is a former Indonesian badminton player . She was world champion with the Indonesian women's team in 1975 and vice world champion in 1978 and 1981.

Career

In the 1975 Uber Cup final , the Indonesian team faced Japan once again and won 5-2 for the first time after losing 6-1 in both of the previous Uber Cup finals. Widiastuti lost in the singles to Hiroe Yuki 7:11 and 1:11, but won her two doubles with Imelda Wiguna against Etsuko Takenaka and Machiko Aizawa and against Hiroe Yuki and Mika Ikeda . In 1978 Japan took the trophy back and won 5-2 against the Indonesians. This time Theresia Widiastuti lost both doubles with Regina Masli against Etsuko Takenaka and Machiko Aizawa and Mikiko Takada and Atsuko Tokuda . Three years later, Indonesia lost to Japan again in the final, with Widiastuti again without a win in both doubles.

In the individual disciplines, Theresia Widiastuti won silver in women's doubles at the Asian Games in 1974 together with Imelda Wiguna . In 1978 she won bronze in doubles with Ruth Damayanti , while she won silver in mixed with Hariamanto Kartono . In 1975 she was second in doubles with Imelda Wiguna in the All England , a year later she was Asian champion with Regina Masli .
