Thiago Cardozo , full name Thiago Gastón Cardozo Brugman , (born July 31, 1996 in Juan Lacaze ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.81-meter-tall goalkeeper Cardozo has played for the youth team of Uruguayan first division club Atlético Peñarol since at least 2013 . He has been in the professional squad since 2015. He made his debut in the Primera División on May 5, 2018, when he was in goal for a full 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over Defensor Sporting .

National team

Cardozo took part with the Uruguayan U-17 selection in the U-17 South American Championship 2013 in Argentina . With the team, he finished fourth in the tournament. In October 2013 he was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 2013 U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates . There he reached the quarter-finals with the team and was used in five World Cup matches.

Cardozo has also been a member of the Uruguayan U-20 national team , overseen by coach Fabián Coito , since at least March 2014 . In the 1-1 draw on June 10, 2014 against Paraguay, he was in the starting line-up. The next international match followed on August 4, 2014 in the 0-1 defeat against Peru.

He was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the U-20 South American Championship 2015 in Uruguay.
